This program requires data sharing between state and local law enforcement agencies and federal immigration officials. This system is deeply flawed and promotes racial profiling. It has directly caused deportation of thousands of people with no criminal record.

In addition to this, the NH State Senate voted in agreement with the House to pass HCR 2 in support of the Arizona Anti-immigrant laws. While this is only a resolution, this statement sets a dangerous precedent and places the “unwelcome” mat for immigrants at the doors of our state.

To show that new Hampshire people reject the brutal, inhumane policies of our government towards immigrants we are gathering in a solemn vigil May 15 in front of the Norris Cotton Federal Building, 275 Chestnut St, Manchester, from 6pm to 7pm.

Hello wonderful mothers! Come out of your house and get some refreshment!

O.R.I.S. is arranging a mother’s day celebration on Saturday, May 12th, 2012 at the Multi-Cultural Center. We are inviting a lady speaker from YWCA to talk on women’s rights. And there will be someone to speak on the topic “Mother, her importance, her strength and why we really celebrate mother’s day.”

We will also have some entertainment- like, traditional song and dance from our mothers. We will be serving a light selection of multi-cultural food, too. It’s open to ALL! Feel free to join us!!

A man identifying himself as a representative of the “Federal Grants Department” calls from a Washington, DC-based telephone number, (202) 436-9601, informing recently resettled refugees that they are eligible to receive $10,000 because they are refugees from Bhutan. To claim the money, they are instructed to produce a money order for $650, and call the telephone number for further instructions on where to send the money.

Be advised that this is NOT a legitimate solicitation.

At least one refugee has been coerced into making multiple payments as “processing fees”, totaling more than $5,000.

So far, reports are localized in Texas, but ORR advises everyone to be aware of this scam and avoid giving any personal information or payments to unknown callers.

Please note that the federal government does not demand processing fees or security deposits from grant recipients. If you are the target of a suspicious request, please contact your local police or resettlement agency for further assistance.
